What is Sosh?
Sosh is not a separate company. It is a brand owned and operated by Orange, launched in 2011 to answer the low-cost operators that were reshaping the French market. Your contract is with Orange, your traffic runs on Orange antennas and Orange fibre, and the equipment is Orange equipment. What changes is the distribution model, and that is where the saving comes from.
Sosh has no shops, no paper contracts and no salespeople. Subscription, billing, plan changes and cancellation all happen in the online customer account. Orange keeps the premium services for its own brand, described in our guide to Orange France, and lets Sosh compete on price alone.

Good to know: the English-speaking helpline you may have read about belongs to Orange, not to Sosh. A Sosh customer is served by the regular French-language support. If speaking English to your operator matters to you, that single point often decides the choice between the two brands.
Which Boite Sosh should you choose?
Sosh sells its home internet under the Boite Sosh name. Unlike an Orange Livebox, a Boite Sosh is not a triple-play bundle: there is no TV decoder in the standard plans and no minimum commitment. The router itself is lent to you and must be returned when you leave.

Things to know before subscribing
- No commitment at all: you can cancel any month, and you never owe remaining instalments.
- A fixed 69,00 € closing fee applies when you cancel an internet contract, whatever the reason.
- The router is lent, not sold: it must be sent back after cancellation, together with the decoder if you took one.
Sosh mobile plans
Every Sosh mobile plan is sold without a handset and without commitment, from a small blocked plan for occasional use up to a 5G plan with a large data allowance. You choose between a physical SIM card and an eSIM, at the same price. All the plans include calls, texts and data roaming within the European Union at no extra cost, so a French Sosh line behaves exactly as it does at home when you travel inside Europe.

The Sosh mobile range in 2026
What you need to know
- The SIM card costs 10,00 €, whether you take a physical card or an eSIM.
- No handset is subsidised: Sosh sells the plan, you bring the phone, which must be unlocked.

Sosh or Orange: which one is right for you?
Because both brands belong to the same group and share the same infrastructure, the decision never turns on network quality. It turns on how much service you want around the connection, and on the language you want to be served in.

Customer service and subscription
Sosh support is designed to be self-service. The customer account and the mobile application handle most operations, and the telephone lines below are reserved for existing customers. All of them answer in French.

What you need to subscribe
- A valid identity document: passport, French identity card or residence permit.
- Proof of address, called a "justificatif de domicile": a lease, an energy bill or a recent bank statement.
- A French IBAN, required for the direct debit on every monthly plan.
- For an internet plan, the eligibility result for your address, which tells you whether fibre or ADSL is available.
Cancelling a Sosh contract
Cancellation is requested from the customer account or by registered letter. Because no Sosh plan is committed, you never pay remaining instalments. A mobile plan is cancelled at no cost, while an internet contract carries the fixed closing fee of 69,00 € mentioned above. The router and any decoder must be returned afterwards, or they are billed to you.
Subscribe to a Boite Sosh with English-speaking help

Our verdict: is Sosh a good fit for an expat?
Sosh is among the soundest choices on the French market for anyone who wants the Orange network without the Orange bill, and it suits a stay of uncertain length particularly well, since nothing is committed and leaving a mobile plan costs nothing. The reservation is real, though: there is no English-speaking support, so every exchange about a bill, a technical fault or a cancellation will happen in French. If your French is still fragile and you would rather call someone who understands you, the extra euros paid to Orange buy exactly that. If you are comfortable managing a contract online, Sosh gives you the same coverage for less.
